
Char McCargo Bah is the CEO/Owner of FindingThingsforU, LLC. She has been a genealogist since 1981; and, has appeared in numerous television interviews with CBS, FOX-5, Comcast, Public Broadcasting Services just to name a few, as well as documentaries. In 2017, she completed a documentary titled, “The First to Make It,” about the first African American NBA player. She has received numerous awards in 2018, 2017, 2014, 2013, 2010, and in 2009 for her work in genealogy.
Mrs. Bah was the genealogist for the City of Alexandria on the Alexandria Freedmen and Contraband Cemetery project. Char became a “Living Legend of Alexandria in 2014” and she is a bestselling co-author of “African Americans of Alexandria, VA: Beacons of Light in the Twentieth Century.” Mrs. Bah has published over 41 articles for the Afro-American Historical and Genealogical Society (AAHGS) in a column called “Char’s Corner”. She is a Freelance Writer for the Alexandria Gazette Packet’s newspaper. Her column is “The Other Alexandria”. She also has a blog titled, “The Other Alexandria” at http://wwww.theotheralexandria.com. Her second book, “The Alexandria’s Freedmen’s Cemetery: A Legacy of Freedom” will be released in January 2019.
She is currently working on her third book, “Finding My Past: A Study Guide for Uncovering Multiple Slave Owners.” She continues to advance her education in genealogy through the University of Toronto. She is a national speaker on genealogy.
